Composer and pianist, Karol Beffa completed his general and musical studies at the same time after having been a child actor between the ages of seven and twelve. Ranked first among students accepted at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, he graduated from the Paris Graduate School of Economics, Statistics, and Finance (ENSAE).
Accepted into the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris in 1988, he received eight first prizes. Having been ranked as the first successful candidate in the Agrégation of musical education, he has been a lecturer in the Ecole Normale Supérieure since 2004. In 2000, the International Biennial of Young Artists of Torino (BIG Torino 2000) chose him to represent France. In 2002, he was the youngest French composer on the program at the Présences Festival.
Composer in-residence of the National Orchestra of the Capitole in Toulouse from 2006 to 2009, Karol Beffa won the 20th edition of the “Victoires de la musique classique” in the category “Best composer of the year” in 2013. For the 2012 - 2013 school-years, he has been elected at the Collège de France to be the chair of artistic creation.System.String
